Annual Impact Report

An update on progress across Catalyst. Thanks to our evaluation partners, inFocus, and all partners who contributed data and insight.

Between 2023-24, Catalyst had over 30 activities, including initiatives, research projects and working groups, and we engage with 90 core partners to deliver these activities.

Changes

Organisational Transition: Completed strategic review and transition to CIC, focusing on liberatory technology and community-centred digital decision-making.

Support and Training Circle: Increased digital skills and practical knowledge among charities, leading to improved digital practices and safeguarding processes.

Reuse Circle: Successful promotion of reuse culture, resulting in better resource allocation and stronger partnerships.

Collaborative Networks Circle: Creation of diverse, inclusive spaces for knowledge sharing, expanding professional networks, and new ways of working.

Our Lessons

Inclusive Practices: Inclusion must be embedded from the beginning, with a focus on power-shifting and community engagement.

Decolonial Evaluation: We must democratise how we think about learning, impact, and who decide what's important.

Importance of Collaboration: Collaboration and knowledge sharing are crucial for capacity building in the nonprofit sector.

Strategic Evolution: What most needs catalysing now in the sector is focusing on the intersection of tech and power.

Support and Training Circle

Catalyst Resources: 172 sign-ups for user research courses, 17 articles created, and 13,095 resource page views.

The Curve: 2,628 training registrations, 40 online training sessions.

Digital Candle: 310 matches to volunteer digital experts, 702 experts registered.

Collaborative Network Circle

Tech For Good Organisers Network: Diverse and inclusive spaces for knowledge sharing.

Knowledge Exchange Initiatives: Participants gained skills and confidence to apply new knowledge.

Community Engagement: Identified conditions for successful community engagement.

Reuse Circle

Open Working Practices: Enhanced understanding and implementation of open working concepts.

Infrastructure and Open IP: Reduced development time and costs for charities and funders.

Shared Digital Guides: Sourced and published practical solutions for addressing community challenges, by and for nonprofits.

950 support touchpoints* delivered, e.g. training workshops, matches to peers, experts or digital agencies, resources, community meetups.

50,868 instances* of people supported, e.g. workshop/training, attendances, page/resource views.

*Some of these may be the same people due to accessing multiple services.
